Welcome to the website of Tashii-Texela Language Society (TTS). We work to restore the Kwakwala and Nuuchahnulth languages as strong, everyday languages in our communities, through documentation, education, and activism.
TTS began as a collaboration amongst Nuuchahnulth people, Kwakwakawakw people, and friends, who have learned together through the University of Victoria and other venues, and who work well together. By sharing ideas, work, and costs, we are able to support projects on both of our languages. We are based in Port Alberni (c̓uumaʕas) and Campbell River (ƛ̓əmataxʷ), British Columbia, Canada.
Some of our current projects are immersion sets in Kwakwala and Nuuchahnulth, family lessons in the Liqwala dialect, an online Nuuchahnulth dictionary, and translation based on best practices. Please follow one of the links above to see our constitution, values, and language materials (Resources), or to learn more about us and our work (FAQs), or to contact us (Contact).
